Mid-Summer New Space

It’s been a hot, humid summer but a good one for Moonglow. We finally moved our booths to the first floor of The Antique Depot! We loved our basement booths, but when the space next to ours opened on the first floor, we happily took it, and now we have one big booth! We love being on the main floor and the openness of our space. We immediately sold stuff that had been lingering in the basement. And it’s been fun designing and displaying things in a different way.

And we haven’t stopped hitting auctions, estate sales and our own stock at home. We’re always trying to put out new, different and fun treasures for everybody.

Here’s a look at our new space:

Fun Stuff

One of the things we love about our business is the fun we have going to auctions and hunting for fun stuff. And one of the most difficult things is selling the fun stuff. But if we kept everything we thought was cool, we’d be on the next episode of Hoarders.

Here’s a small selection of fun stuff:

Early Spring Cleaning

Hello and welcome to an early Spring here in Ellicott City. It’s been an unusually mild winter and I’ve been enjoying many warm, sunny days. Looking over my booths, I realized they needed some early Spring cleaning, so I spent a few hours purging and making room for many new treasures I’ve acquired through auctions. Can’t wait to get them all there.

Here are some current pictures of my booths, including this new, wonderful lighted sign πŸ™‚

Happy New Year

Hello and hope you had the best of holidays. It’s been nonstop for us since the last time I posted here. In addition to settling into our new home, we’ve been sorting through inventory, pricing and packing our booths as much as possible. And we’re still addicted to auctions and go almost every week.

Business has picked up since the flood and Christmas time was especially good. I hope it continues as Winter has shown its cold, snowy face and most people (myself included) like to hibernate as much as possible until Spring.

Here are some pictures of our booths:

After the Rain

On July 30, historic Ellicott City was devastated by a flood. Buildings, businesses and homes on Main Street were damaged and destroyed. Two lives were lost. It was a time the town will never forget. There are many things I love about Ellicott City and one of them is the love and support the people have for this community. There has been an incredible outpouring of help in every way. Rebuilding Ellicott City was never a question. You can’t keep this wonderful community down.

The Antique Depot sits on Maryland Avenue, right off Main Street. For this reason, the building survived. However, the hard rain found its way in and flooded the basement. Two of my booths are in the basement so I lost many display cases and inventory. Once we were able to get in the building, we salvaged what we could and brought everything up to my first floor booth. The basement was cleaned, painted and looks amazing. The owner worked hard to convince the county to let us open the store and on September 2nd, The Antique Depot was open for business. Main Street remains closed but customers can reach us via New Cut Road and College Ave. And we’ve had wonderful love and support that I know will only get better when all of Ellicott City is open for business again.

In the meantime, we’ve been working hard to restock our booths and rebuild our vintage business so it’s also better than ever. We cleaned and repainted our metal shelves (now purple!) and our formerly black shelf pops in black and white.

Check out the pictures below:

There will be so much more in the coming weeks so check back for updates on our booths. We are excited to get our business in the best shape it’s ever been.

Toys, glass, crates and a prayer kneeler!

Wow, it’s been a long time. Even though I haven’t posted, we haven’t stopped picking, shopping and selling. Spring has been tough with crazy weather, more illness and thoughts of moving. So with our home sold and searching for a new one, it’s been challenging.

Auctions are always a stress reliever and we go almost every week. I’ve also found some cool stuff at our local thrift shop including an awesome prayer kneeler. Toys, glassware and crates are always staples for us and we’ve found some great ones. Check out the sampling below:

We’re heading to an auction later today and I’ll be digging in our storage for more vintage goods to price. It’s all part of the fun of this business. Hope you’re enjoying whatever you love. πŸ™‚

As always, thanks for looking.

Vintage is always awesome!

Hi everyone! It’s been a long time and so much has happened in the past three months. Christmas and New Year’s came and went in a flash and Brian and I spent most of January sick with pneumonia. We also suffered through a nearly three foot blizzard. 😦

February has been catch up time for our vintage love and business. We started going back to auctions and cleaned and restocked our neglected booths. I have to say that I missed the excitement of winning bids at the auction and scoring awesome new stuff. I’ve also been enjoying my time in my booths and looking forward to an awesome Spring.

Take a look at some of our new treasures and the transformation of our booths:
